In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Runnemede Public Library will be closed until March 30, 2020. We have taken this course of action to protect the health of the community-that's you, your families and our staff. We will keep you updated as the situation evolves via email, Facebook and our website. Let us know if you need help logging onto our 24-7 E-book site called Libby.
The AARP Tax Preparation help has been suspended nation wide. Look for updates or call us after April 1, 2020.
The 2020 Census is coming!
Beginning in March 2020, everyone in our community will be receiving invitations from the United States Census asking that we all be counted.
As part of this ten-year Constitutional requirement, we hope that every resident of Runnemede is counted. There is over $685 billion dollars at stake for our county as well as New Jersey's voice in Congress. Initially you will be asked to fill out the census by phone or through the internet. THE LIBRARY IS HERE TO HELP! While you are waiting for your invitation, check out the official census website to get your questions answered. 2020census.gov
As of January 1, 2020 the Runnemede Public Libray has eliminated fines for all overdue items. The library's mission is to provide equal access to information, services and opportunities that empower, enrich, and enhance the quality of life for all. Eliminating overdue fees will further that mission by removing barriers to the library's resources. We don't want to punish individuals who want to read and learn, instead we will work on ways to encourage members of our community to utilize these valuable resources.
All outstanding fines have been forgiven as long as the overdue materials have been returned or paid for. Some items, such as Museum Passes will continue to utilize extended use fees. Materials that are owned by other libraries and borrowed through inter-library loans may also subject to fines.
Many items in the library are now available to borrow for 28 days. This excludes new fiction which is still a 14 day borrow.
We no longer wish for overdue fines to be a barrier to using the library. This change will mean eliminating the need for families to choose between library services and their financial security. Eliminating overdue fees does not mean that individuals are devoid of responsibility for their items, it means that financially vulnerable members of our community aren't cut off from our resources.
